Sorry to bore u guys with this entry but i just feel in the mood for reminiscences.
Inter-school display band comp is coming in another 3 days time. Can still remember the day some 8 yrs back when i was one of those secondary sch kids playing and marching along to the rhythm of the songs. Opps, i'm getting old. =p
Those were the days when band was everything to me. My life revolved around band performances, band practices, sectional practices, and more extra practices. Kekekeke... Day in day out, it was chiong-ing straight to band room for practice after sch. Can't imagine that i was so "siao on" abt band pracs starting from sec 2 when i used to skip those hated practices when i was in sec 1. I must have eaten the wrong medicine man. Kekekkee....
As ours was a display band, we spent a large amt of time working on our formations and marching, and naturally a lot of time was spent outdoors. Think u pple won't believe that i used to be quite tanned judging by MY standards. Kekkeke... and i always get teased for the sun burnt "faye wong look" after a full day of marching under the sun on saturdays.
Kinda miss those days. Those days when i could just spend the whole day marching up and down the huge field in teck whye and was fit as a fiddle though skinny as a scarecrow. Those days when i didn't have to bother myself with the practicalities of life, when i didn't have to think so much abt everything. Those days when i was a hot-headed youngster who couldn't care less abt anything else other than myself. Not that i've improved much in this sense but well, life on the whole was much more carefree and enjoyable during those days without the troubles of adult life.
But all of us have to move on, and move on i did, and though i think that i'm a much improved version of myself as compared to those days, i must admit that i think i've lost some stuff along the way as well. U gain some, u lose some, so guess that's just part and parcel of life.
Anyway, hope they can get the gold medal this time round after only managing a silver for the last comp. This is the first time i haven't been back to see their preparation for band comp ever since i graduated so i really have no idea abt the standard. Can only hope and pray....
